2022 AFL Round 7 Betting Predictions

Round 7 features top 8 battles between the Cats and Dockers on Saturday afternoon and the Swans host the Lions in a top 4 clash on Sunday night.

West Coast Eagles (17th) vs Richmond Tigers (12th)

The Eagles woes continued in Round 6 with an 84 point loss against the struggling Power and they will need to stand up at home against the Tigers. They’ve likely lost Yeo to injury again but McGovern and Gaff are likely to return. So that should boost their outside run and their intercept marking in the backline.

Richmond were gallant in defeat against the Dees on Sunday night as they will rue a slow third quarter. However, Nick Vlastuin and Jordan Short were both excellent across halfback for the Tigers. They will miss Cotchin and Tarrant in this clash but that will give their younger brigade more playing time.

West Coast have struggled at home recently and the Tigers should dominate the midfield through the likes of Prestia and Nankervis in the ruck.

Stadium Record

The Eagles have lost 5 straight at Optus. Richmond hold a 2-3 record at this venue in their history.

Head to Head Record

Richmond holds a 3-2 record in the last 5 meetings.

Best Bet

Tigers -5.5 = $1.90

Geelong Cats (6th) vs Fremantle Dockers (2nd)

As expected, the Cats thrashed the Roos on Saturday by 10 goals. Cameron booted 7 goals and the Cats midfield found plenty of the ball despite missing Danger. Patty should be back for this important clash against the Dockers after being rested.

The Dockers head to Geelong on the back of a comfortable win over the Blues in Perth and they extended their winning streak to 4 games. Brayshaw, Brodie and Schultz were the standouts in the win over Carlton. So they will be confident of an upset and beat the Bombers in their last trip to Melbourne.

Both teams come off allowing around just 60 points so we do like the Under in this matchup between two in-form teams. Freo also have a good record against the Under.

Stadium Record

The Cats are 8-2 in their last 10 games. Freo have lost 3 of their last 4.

Head to Head Record

Geelong has won 6 of the last 7 meetings since 2016.

Best Bet

Under 151.5 = $1.90

Adelaide Crows (10th) vs GWS Giants (15th)

The Crows made it back to back wins after a crucial 1 point win over the Bulldogs. Taylor Walker kicked his 500th career goal and the likes of Laird and Keys were excellent in the midfield.

The Giants come off another disappointing loss against the Saints on Friday night in Canberra. They’ve now lost 3 games in a row and will need to find something in Adelaide.

The Giants have lost their last 5 interstate games and the Crows will be boosted by a huge win over the Dogs. Crows to win at home.

Stadium Record

Adelaide have won 3 of their last 4 at home. The Giants have won 4 of their last 6 in Adelaide.

Head to Head Record

The Crows are 10-4 against the Giants.

Best Bet

Adelaide -6.5 = $1.90

Melbourne Demons (1st) vs Hawthorn Hawks (9th)

The Dees kept their undefeated streak going after a solid win over the Tigers on Sunday night. They were inaccurate in-front of goals but the likes of Oliver, Gawn and Langdon dominated the midfield battle. They will be missing Jackon, Pickett and coach Simon Goodwin. But Viney and Lever are expected to return.

The Hawks will be disappointed after they let a 32-0 lead slip against the Swans on Anzac Day in the 41 point defeat. However, they’re still a young side and were missing the likes of Lewis and Jiath. Both players have hamstring injuries and will need to get through training.

Melbourne are tough to back against at the MCG and Gawn should have a field day in the ruck. Dees to cover.

Stadium Record

The Dees are 5-0 at the MCG since Round 22 last year. The Hawks are 1-2 at the MCG this year.

Head to Head Record

The last meeting was a draw but the Dees have won 4 of the previous meetings.

Best Bet

Melbourne -25.5 = $1.90

St. Kilda Saints (5th) vs Port Adelaide Power (14th)

The Saints weren’t at their best against the Giants on Friday night but made it 5 straight wins with a 77-60 result. Jack Higgins continued his good form with 4 goals and Steele was excellent through the midfield against his former team. However, the win was soured by an ACL injury to Hayes.

The Power finally got their first win of the season as they thrashed the Eagles on Saturday afternoon. Rozee was best on ground, Finlayson and Marshall both kicked 5 goals. Wines also made a successful return from injury.

While the Power only beat the Eagles, they should gain confidence and the neutral venue should keep this one close. They also seem to matchup well with the Saints over the last few years.

Stadium Record

The Saints are 0-1 at this venue in their history. Port are yet to play at this venue.

Head to Head Record

Port has won 10 of the last 11 meetings.

Best Bet

Port Adelaide +8.5 = $1.90

Carlton Blues (7th) vs North Melbourne Kangaroos (18th)

The Blues were outplayed by the Dockers on Saturday night but they’ll get a good opportunity to bounce back against the Roos. One of the positives in the loss was the return of Cripps from a hamstring injury. But a knee injury to Pittonet is a blow for their ruck stocks. They could get Kennedy and Silvagni back from injury.

The Roos sit at the bottom of the ladder after 4 straight defeats. They should get Stephenson back against the Blues but McKay will miss a week with suspension.

North have given up 120+ pts in 2 straight games and we can see the Blues kicking 100+ as well in what should be a high scoring game under the roof.

Stadium Record

The Blues are 2-3 in their last 5 at Marvel. North have a poor 2-12 record in their last 14.

Head to Head Record

North has won 6 of the last 7 meetings.

Best Bet

Over 173 Points = $1.90

Collingwood Magpies (8th) vs Gold Coast Suns (13th)

The Magpies outlasted the Bombers on Anzac Day for their 3rd win of the season. Jack Ginnivan was the star with 5 goals and De Goey/Crisp both starred for the Pies. However, a serious knee injury to Brodie Grundy is a huge blow for the Magpies ruck stocks.

The Suns come off a disappointing performance in the Q-Clash as they went down by 52 pts against the Lions. However, Touk Miller continued his good form and Noah Anderson picked up 33 touches. They could get Jack Bowes back from injury and Lukosius is chance to return as well.

Collingwood look a 2+ goal better side than the Suns as they’ll enjoy home ground advantage at the MCG.

Stadium Record

The Pies are 3-3 in their last 6. Gold Coast has lost 4 of 15 at the MCG in their history.

Head to Head Record

Collingwood holds a 11-3 record against the Suns since 2011.

Best Bet

Collingwood -11.5 = $1.90

Western Bulldogs (11th) vs Essendon Bombers (16th)

The Dogs inconsistent season continued on the weekend after a 1 pt loss against the Crows. They struggled in the ruck without Tim English. However, Dunkley and Liberatore were both standouts in the loss.

The Bombers will look to bounce back from another tough loss against the Pies on Anzac Day. But they will be happy with the return of Merrett and Stringer from injury in the loss. Parish was also brilliant for the Bombers with 44 disposals.

The Dogs love kicking a score at Marvel and the Bombers have the likes of Stringer and Merret back. The Over is 9-1 at this venue with the Dogs involved and I like the chances of a shootout under the roof.

Stadium Record

The Bulldogs are 2-4 in their last 6. The Bombers are 6-2 in their last 8.

Head to Head Record

The Dogs have won 7 of the last 8 meetings.

Best Bet

Over 171.5 Points = $1.90

Sydney Swans (4th) vs Brisbane Lions (3rd)

The Swans started slowly against the Hawks on Anzac Day but finished strong in the 109-68 victory. Callum Mills will easily get the 3 votes after 37 touches, 11 marks and a goal. Lance Franklin made a successful return from injury and Ladhams dominated the ruck. However, the win was soured by another concussion for Paddy McCartin and he’ll likely miss this clash.

Brisbane are 5-1 and come off a 52 point thrashing of the Suns on Saturday. Zach Bailey kicked 6 goals in the win and Lyons was the standout in the midfield against his former team. They should get Mitch Robinson back from injury but Lohmann injured his ankle and will miss 6 weeks.

This should be a close game, however the Swans have a great record against Brisbane at the SCG and should win.

Stadium Record

Sydney are 6-1 in their last 7. Brisbane are 0-6 at the SCG since 2010.

Head to Head Record

Sydney hold a 12-2 record in the last 14 meetings since 2010.

Best Bet

Sydney -1.5 = $1.90
