2022 AFL Round 10 Betting Predictions

Round 10 begins with a top 8 battle between the Blues and Swans, the Dreamtime at the MCG on Saturday night and Melbourne aim for a 10-0 start.

Carlton Blues (4th) vs Sydney Swans (5th)

The Blues are in the top 4 after 3 straight wins and come off a solid interstate win over the Giants. Walsh and Silvagni both kicked 2 goals in the win and Docherty controlled the backline with 10 marks. They did lose Zac Williams to a serious injury but they should get Jack Martin back.

The Swans got back on track after 2 straight defeats with a crushing win over the Bombers. Callum Mills continued his good season in the midfield with 13 tackles & 7 clearances. Papley found form up forward with 2 goals as well. They have lost Rowbottom to suspension but they’ll be happy to see Tom Hickey get through without injury.

Tough game to pick with the odds not overly favouring either side. So we do like the chances of the Over under the roof. The Over is 5-1 in the last 6 games at Marvel and both sides are capable of scoring 100+ pts.

Stadium Record

Carlton are 3-0 at Marvel this season. Sydney have won 4 of their last 6 at this venue.

Head to Head Record

Sydney have won 4 of the last 6 meetings.

Best Bet

Over 173.5 = $1.95

Geelong Cats (7th) vs Port Adelaide Power (10th)

The Cats inconsistent season continued on the weekend as they collapsed in the 3rd quarter against the Saints. But they have a great record in Geelong and should be confident against the Power. They’ll likely be without Stanley so Blicavs will likely be the main ruckman.

The Power have surged up the ladder after 4 straight wins and smashed the Roos in Tasmania last week, 115-46. Wines was back to his best with 2 goals and 9 clearances. Boak had a quiet game for his standards so he’ll look to stand up against the likes of Selwood. They should get Dumont and Jones back this week.

The Under is 10-1 in the last 11 meetings and should salute here as well. The Power haven’t allowed over 70 pts in their winning streak and the Cats kicked just 66 pts in their last game in Geelong.

Stadium Record

Geelong are 2-2 in their last 4 games at home. Port have a terrible record in Geelong, having lost 12 of 14.

Head to Head Record

The Power are 3-2 in the last 5 matchups.

Best Bet

Under 159.5 = $1.90

Western Bulldogs (9th) vs Gold Coast Suns (12th)

The Bulldogs come off an easy win over the Pies on Friday night and will be keen for back to back wins. Treloar dominated his former side with 3 goals and Dunkley also kicked 3 goals. So their midfield will look to get on top of the Suns.

Gold Coast are coming off back to back wins over top 8 sides and will head to Ballarat with a lot of confidence. They did beat the Giants at this venue last season but the Dogs will be tougher. The key will be Witts in the ruck as he’ll have a good matchup and Touk Miller has been unstoppable in the midfield.

The wind is always a factor in Ballart and that should see a close game on Saturday. The Dogs lost to Adelaide recently at this venue and the Suns have covered in 4 of their last 5 against them.

Stadium Record

The Bulldogs have won 5 of 8 in Ballarat. Gold Coast are 1-1 at this venue.

Head to Head Record

The Bulldogs are 11-3 in the history between the two teams.

Best Bet

Gold Coast +16.5 = $1.85

North Melbourne Kangaroos (17th) vs Melbourne Demons (1st)

North are looking to end a long losing streak and facing the undefeated Dees is a tough ask. They were outplayed by the Power last Saturday afternoon and don’t have a great record at Marvel.

The Demons are flying after 9 straight wins and will face the two bottom sides in back to back weeks. They crushed the Eagles in Perth last week and Petracca was brilliant with 2 goals & 28 touches. They did lose Harmes to a hamstring but they have the depth to cover him.

The total goals market is always a good target when the Dees are playing a bottom 8 side. Fritsch found some form last week with 3 goals and kicked 6 against the Roos last year.

Stadium Record

North has lost 3 of their last 5 at Marvel. Melbourne are 4-0 at Marvel since 2020.

Head to Head Record

Melbourne are 3-1 in this matchup since 2018.

Best Bet

Bayley Fritsch 4+ Goals = $2.40

Adelaide Crows (14th) vs St Kilda Saints (6th)

Adelaide were no match for the Lions in the end as they went down by 6 goals on Saturday night. So they’ll look to bounce back at home in this matchup with the Saints. Lachie Murphy picked up another neck injury so he could be missing up forward.

The Saints picked up a huge win over the Cats on Saturday but it’s come at a cost. They’ll be without inspirational skipper – Jack Steele – for at least 6 weeks with a shoulder injury. Higgins is also out for 1-2 weeks with concussion. So they’ll need to stand up without Steele.

St Kilda don’t have a great record in Adelaide and will be missing their star player. So the Crows should keep this one close.

Stadium Record

The Crows are 2-3 at home this season. The Saints have lost 11 of 13 at this venue.

Head to Head Record

The Crows have a dominant record against the Saints with 11 wins in the last 12 meetings since 2012.

Best Bet

Adelaide +17.5 = $1.90

Richmond Tigers (8th) vs Essendon Bombers (16th)

The Tigers have jumped into the top 8 after 3 straight wins. They survived a late comeback against the Hawks last week in the 23 point win. The in-form Tom Lynch kicked 4 goals and Dusty Martin also kicked 3. They’ll miss Balta with a hamstring injury and Pickett has been suspended for a week. However, Graham is a chance to return.

The Bombers dreadful season continued on Saturday night as they were easily thrashed by the Swans, 105-47. So they’ll need to stand up against the Tigers in this Dreamtime matchup.

Richmond are the form side compared to Essendon and have won 11 in a row against the reeling Bombers. This could get ugly.

Stadium Record

Richmond have won 4 of their 5 at the MCG. Essendon have struggled at ‘G recently with a 1-6 record.

Head to Head Record

Essendon haven’t beaten the Tigers since 2014 and Richmond are 11-0 in that time.

Best Bet

Tigers -24.5 = $1.90

Greater Western Sydney Giants (15th) vs West Coast Eagles (18th)

The Giants weren’t able to send off departing coach Leon Cameron with a win over the Blues as they lost by 5 goals. They’ve lost 4 of their last 5 games and it’ll be interesting to see if interim coach Mark McVeigh makes wholesale changes.

The Eagles were outplayed by the Dees on Sunday night as expected. They sit last on the ladder and they have one of the longest injury lists in the AFL. So they’ll hopefully get some of their best 22 back soon.

GWS have far too much talent around the ground to not beat the Eagles by a big margin.

Stadium Record

The Giants are 4-1 at this venue since mid-2021. West Coast are 3-3 in their history.

Head to Head Record

In the last 5 meetings, the Eagles have won 4 of 5.

Best Bet

Greater Western Sydney -39.5 = $1.90

Hawthorn Hawks (13th) vs Brisbane Lions (2nd)

The Hawks are looking to end a 4 game losing streak on Sunday. However, Mitch Lewis returned from injury against the Tigers and Sicily tried hard in the backline. They’ll be without Gunstun for this clash but should get Tom Mitchell back from a rest.

The Lions are sitting nicely in 2nd on the ladder and will head to Tasmania with a lot of confidence. They got Hipwood back from injury last week. Neale comes off 36 touches against the Crows. Zorko also kicked 2 goals and Bailey/Cameron combined for 7 goals. So their forward line should be tough to handle in this clash.

Hawthorn usually play well down in Tassie and could give the Lions a scare. The underdog is 4-0 when these two sides meet in Tasmania. Hawks to cover.

Stadium Record

The Hawks are 2-2 in their last 4 at this venue. Brisbane have won 2 of their last 3 in Launceston.

Head to Head Record

The Hawks are 4-0-2 against the Lions in the last 6 meetings.

Best Bet

Hawthorn +22.5 = $1.85

Fremantle Dockers (3rd) vs Collingwood Magpies (11th)

The Dockers will look to respond after a disappointing effort on the Gold Coast. They kicked just 4 goals for the game and struggled in the wet conditions. However, they’re 4-0 at home and should be confident of getting back on track against the Pies.

Collingwood head to Perth on the back of 2 straight defeats and their injury list isn’t helping. However, Pendlebury, Ginnivan and Elliot could all return on Sunday night.

Freo usually bounce back after a loss at home as they’ve won 9 of 10. Collingwood just have too many injuries at the moment. Dockers to cover on their home turf.

Stadium Record

Freo have won their last 4 at home. Collingwood have won 4 of 8 at Optus Stadium.

Head to Head Record

Fremantle is riding a 3 game winning streak against the Pies.

Best Bet

Fremantle -25.5 = $1.90
