Small field of six here, including two unfancied first starters lining up. I’m siding with the most experienced of the rest, Ultra – who might finally get a chance to get rid of her maiden tag. She’s been solid throughout her career, but is yet to score a victory. The Godolphin runner should make her way to the front here and might be tough to run down.
Pal D’oro resumes here off a long 223-day spell; his last start back in April was a forgive effort, due to the track condition. Prior to that, he scored a tough on-pace victory at Ballarat & seemed to be trending in the right direction. He comes up against a very weak field here and his best is certainly good enough here.
Proud Mia looks the one to beat here for mine, despite coming up against the talented Rubinocchi, who is resuming here. Proud Mia has the runs on the board and is coming off a strong win last start at Wagga, where she led throughout to score a tough victory. She is back in grade here and should find this race well within her grasp. Should be right there at the finish.
Favourite Guardian Spirit looks tough to beat here, but is certainly short enough. There looks to be some value around him & I’m siding with the in-form Riddlero, who has improved with each start in his career. He was average on debut, but quickly got used to racing & has scored back-to-back wins in his past two. He looks the main danger to the favourite at a nice price.
