The Waller-trained Secret Command has been unlucky in his past few starts; he struck interference at the start two runs ago and was crowded for room at the 200m mark, yet still managed to finish just 0.3L away. Last start, he was again slowly away and never saw daylight in the straight. He gets to the spacious Newcastle track, where he should have plenty of time to wind up. Expecting a strong performance here.
Sticking with another Waller/Berry pair here with the in-form Shibli, who has been on a tear this prep. The 5-year-old gelding has won three out of his last four runs, with his only miss at Randwick, where he was blocked for a run and also pulled up with poor post-race recovery. That is red hot form and happy to stick with him again.
Quite keen on this lightly raced 4-year-old mare out of the Freedman yard. She was solid when resuming, finishing second behind Scissor Step and then she followed that up with another close second at Mornington the following start. She went to a new level when stepping up in class last start, leading all the way to score by 1.25L. This is her toughest challenge to date, but she has improved with every run and can certainly do so again here.
Comanche Brave looks an interesting runner here; he was solid last prep, scoring two wins (including a first up win) but finished the prep off with two poor runs. In his last run, there was a pre-race incident and he was passed fit, only to pull up lame afterwards. We can forgive that run and he has also been gelded during the spell, so he could definitely return with a bang first up at nice odds.

BLUEY’S BEST BETS – 19/01/2022 BLUEY’S BEST NEWCASTLE RACE 4 – 16:05 AEDT CELTIC HARP ($3.20) Celtic Harp has had just four starts, but has done plenty wrong in his races so far; he has a tendency to begin awkwardly, as well as lay out in the straight. Those mistakes have proven costly for the […]
BLUEY’S BEST BETS – 05/06/2020 BLUEY’S BEST ROSEHILL RACE 6 – 14:20 AEST ZING ($5.00) Zing had two trials leading into her first up return last start, which seemed to do the trick, as she raced extremely well and was unlucky to finish closer. She’s second up here today and usually performs better with a […]
BLUEY’S BEST BETS – 22/05/2020 BLUEY’S BEST ROSEHILL RACE 5 – 13:45 AEST TURNSTYLE ($3.80) Turnstyle looks the one to beat here for Bjorn Baker. She resumed nicely first up at Warwick Farm against the mares, finishing just half a length away. She then raced on a Heavy track last start and scored a brilliant […]
